On Friday, February 2, 2024, Dr. Randy Abbey, the host of Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, virtually took on the position of a visitor with his two guests, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Nana Akomea, the Managing Director of the State Transport Company.
He was barraged with inquiries over Ghana’s dismal showing in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and the tournament budget by the North Tongu Member of Parliament.
Because Randy Abbey is a seasoned sports journalist, football administrator, and member of the Ghana Football Association’s Executive Council, Nana Akomea and Okudzeto thought he would know the answers to their questions regarding the Black Stars, so they bombarded him with inquiries during the show.
The inquiries ranged from his absence in the Ivory Coast to the tournament’s $8 million budget, which Okudzeto Ablakwa revealed.
The first person to ask a question was Nana Akomea, who questioned Dr. Randy Abbey about his absence from the Ivory Coast.
“I’m not a member of the Black Stars management committee, so I go to games, but I won’t be doing things directly,” Dr. Abbey clarified. It’s not like I disregarded or neglected my responsibilities or the team. The folks in control were with the team, so my attendance will be an extra whatever.
