KPMG, however, had reservations regarding the 2023 contract SML signed for upstream petroleum audit and minerals audit services, pointing out that the latter has not yet been implemented and that a thorough needs study ought to be carried out to determine the necessity of those services.
President Nana Akufo-Addo ordered the KPMG report, asking the audit company to examine the agreement and provide a report in a fortnight. On March 27, 2024, the final report was turned in following a request for an extension.
