A recent KPMG audit report revealed the startling fact that the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) is scheduled to pay Strategic Mobilization Ghana Ltd. (SML) an astounding GHS 5.1 billion in fees over the course of a five-year revenue assurance contract.
The entire projected fees to be paid to SML under the 2023 contract amount to GHS 5,173,091,857, or almost GHS 1 billion annually, according to the conclusions of KPMG’s audit.
The report goes on to say that in 2023, SML, GRA, and the Ministry of Finance (MoF) signed a Revenue Assurance Services Contract, which increased SML’s services to include audits of minerals and petroleum upstream in addition to the downstream audits that SML already performed.
