A suspected thief was lynched and killed on Wednesday night in Chereponi after a robbery gone wrong.
Two thieves attacked a Benz bus transporting people from Tamale to Chereponi on the evening of March 27 at approximately 8 p.m.
Apparently, after being detained and taken into custody by police who weren’t on duty, one of the thieves was lynched by a group of irate locals.
Abdul Kudus further mentioned that the robbers had two weapons taken from them.
The bus was headed from Tamale to Chereponi when two robbers ambushed the passengers and began stealing their money and other valuables, according to Abdul Kudus.
One unmarked police officer apprehended one of the robbers and was subsequently stoned by enraged locals who had gathered around the vehicle.
“One of the robbers fired his gun, which fell, and so he ran away, and the other robber’s body was taken to the police station,” the speaker continued.
