Dr. Yaw Twerefour has been named the Registrar and CEO of the Mortuaries and Funeral Facilities Agency by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Dr. Twerefour will oversee the licensing, control, and regulation of facilities related to the storage, transportation, and disposal of human remains under the terms of his appointment, which was made in accordance with Article 195(1) of the 1992 Constitution and section 100 (1) of the Health Institutions and Facilities Act, 2011(Act 829).

Dr. Twerefour is a doctor with more than ten years of expertise who specializes in public health.

He held several positions at Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in the Western Region and was the Medical Superintendent of Anyaa Polyclinic prior to his appointment.

Additionally, he has worked as a resident physician and COVID-19 support physician at GHACEM and other corporate institutions, as well as an external consultant to the National Health Insurance Authority.

First Moscow State Medical Academy is where Dr. Yaw Twerefour received his medical degree.

Additionally, he has certificates from the University of Washington in the United States in global health project management and leadership management, as well as occupational health and safety from Nebosh International in the United Kingdom.
