Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s declaration that he will repeal three divisive levies imposed by the current administration has sparked discussion of an effort on his part to separate himself from the unsavory record of this administration.
Members of the ruling party maintain that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo bears the ultimate responsibility for all government accomplishments and failings, despite opposition voices emphasizing that position.
Since then, supporters for the president’s opposition have begun to circulate a film that cautions against thumping the government’s record.
Checks on GhanaWeb reveal that the video was shot inside the Jubilee House when Akufo-Addo hosted senior party officials prior to the November 2023 presidential primary.
“I’m not sure what we stand to gain by disparaging our own government’s performance. “What are you going to tell the people of Ghana when you do that and you run for the party presidency?” he said.
“That Akufo-Addo misled you and mishandled issues; that despite being an NPP member, I will be different; that I remain under the elephant sign; that despite my differences, you believe the people of Ghana are so stupid?
“Let’s take this seriously. He emphasized that “whoever you are, it is your responsibility to ensure that the people of Ghana buy into that record when we are talking about the government’s record.
