It is imperative to review and make the handbook available for use, as Ms. Minkah-Premo added, because the lack of a mechanism to assist legislators and parliamentary staff in guaranteeing the passage of gender-responsive laws has resulted in the enactment of laws that unintentionally discriminate against women, particularly young women.
A helpful resource for Members of Parliament and parliamentary staff is anticipated to be the 46-page guidebook, which is presently undergoing evaluation, according to Dr. Gifty Adika, National Parliamentary Advisor and Team Manager, ILGRP.
The assessment process was actively participated in by both Parliamentary Service participants and CSO representatives, demonstrating a cooperative effort to promote gender-responsive government.
Global Affairs Canada provides funding for the Inclusive Legislatures for Gender Responsive Policies (ILGRP) project, which is carried out by ACEPA in collaboration with the Parliamentary Center.
