One Lance Corporal Opoku Eric, 27, who is being held by the Obuasi East Police Patrol Team in the Ashanti Region, is claiming to be a soldier assigned to Airborne-Tamale, with staff ID number AB699021.

The suspect was detained at a mining site in Nyamesom, close to Kwabenakwa, on fourteen (14) days of leave for attempting robbery. The culprit is currently on operations duty at Bawku.

The suspect entered their mining site at Nyamesom, near Kwabenakwa, amid gunfire, accompanied by three other people who were also on the run. All of the individuals were well-dressed in military uniforms and were wearing “Jalabia,” a long Muslim dress, over their uniforms.

After receiving the information, the police hurried to the area and encountered Kingsley Akoyie, the caller, and more than twenty (20) other people who had taken an arrest of a soldier.
