The administration of ECG, however, has insisted that technical issues are the cause of the power outages and has confirmed that no official load-shedding schedule will be put in place.
The PURC issued a directive on March 18th, 2024, in reaction to the mounting public outrage, directing ECG to present a load management schedule by April 2, 2024, in order to give consumers clarity and transparency regarding the power supply issues they are facing.
The focus is still on ECG’s operational effectiveness and the need for improved public outreach to lessen the disruptive effects of the continued power outages, given the uncertainty around the frequency and length of power disruptions.
