With effect from April 9, Keli Gadzekpo, the board chair of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), has offered his resignation.
Mr. Gadzekpo gave personal reasons in his resignation letter to President Akufo-Addo as the basis for his departure.
The board chair also desired that ECG and the government would continue to be successful in their endeavors to supply the nation with reliable electricity.
However, the timing of his resignation coincides with a problem in Ghana’s energy industry, as the Electricity Company of Ghana is under fire for irregular power outages.
Gadzekpo was given a strategic position with the goal of guaranteeing energy sufficiency when he was appointed to the board in 2017 by Boakye Agyarko, the then-energy minister.
