These additional costs, according to Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, are meant to increase revenue and enhance the quality of services offered at passport offices across the country.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has announced that there will be no reassessment of the recently implemented passport fees.
In an interview with Joy News, Ampratwum-Sarpong declared, “If he wants us to come to the committee, we will respect the committee, we will appear before the committee, and we will repeat the justifications for the request and the parliamentary approval for the passport fees.”
“These numbers are here to stay, backed by the majority of Ghanaians. He is powerless to change the situation. He’s got his own space to make noise. We will meet with him on the House floor if he wishes to bring it before the committee or the entire legislature. At the end of the day, he will fall flat on his face when we argue and discuss it.”
