The South East regions receive financing for electric buses.

The Zero Emission Bus Regional Areas program has allotted £16.2 million to West Sussex, Surrey, and Brighton & Hove. The government effort is providing an extra £142.8 million and intends to increase the number of electric buses in England.
The £2.9 million that Brighton has been given is “fantastic” news, according to Mr. Muten.He stated, “Replacing diesel buses with zero-carbon alternatives will support our shared vision for an accessible, clean, and sustainable city.”

The money will be used by Surrey and West Sussex, London Gatwick, Go Ahead, and Kent County Council as part of a larger £24 million plan to introduce a fleet of 43 hydrogen-powered buses.The program is a part of the councillor for Surrey, Matt Furniss, “continued commitment to make our buses greener.”

According to the government, its most recent investment will increase the sustainability and efficiency of local fleets.

“This latest investment into our bus fleet comes on top of the £3.5 billion we have invested in our bus network since 2020,” stated Transport Secretary Mark Harper.

In 2021, Kent County Council was awarded £9.5 million as a part of the program’s first funding round.
