The Zero Emission Bus Regional Areas program has allotted £16.2 million to West Sussex, Surrey, and Brighton & Hove. The government effort is providing an extra £142.8 million and intends to increase the number of electric buses in England.
According to the government, its most recent investment will increase the sustainability and efficiency of local fleets.
“This latest investment into our bus fleet comes on top of the £3.5 billion we have invested in our bus network since 2020,” stated Transport Secretary Mark Harper.
In 2021, Kent County Council was awarded £9.5 million as a part of the program’s first funding round.
