Following the tragic death of John Ampontuah Kumah, Deputy Finance Minister and Member of Parliament (MP), this decision was made.
A statement signed by the party’s general secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, states that those who are interested in running for the parliamentary seat may purchase and submit their nomination forms at the constituency party office between Tuesday, April 2, and Thursday, April 4, 2024.
The NPP has provided prospective applicants with a procedural overview.
To obtain nomination papers, they must first submit a GHË–3,000 non-refundable application fee in the form of a bank draft made payable to the New Patriotic Party National Headquarters in Accra.
They will also have to pay GHÌ–35,000 in bankers draft in favor of the New Patriotic Party National Headquarters as a non-refundable filing cost.
But the NPP has also declared a 50% filing fee refund for women, young people (those between the ages of 18 and 40), and people with disabilities (PWDs). All they will have to pay is GH17,500 as a non-refundable filing fee.
