This list is provided courtesy of the IMD Smart City Index, which evaluates 141 cities globally based on inhabitants’ opinions of the buildings and technology present in those towns, with emphasis placed on opinions from the previous three years.
The cities are split into four groups based on their Human Development Index (HDI) ratings. The perceptions are reviewed over two pillars, Structures and Technology, which are then examined over five important areas: health and safety, mobility, activities, opportunities, and governance.
Future urban living will take place in smart cities. These cities can give their citizens a more effective, sustainable, and livable environment by incorporating technology into every area of urban life. Smart city technology has the potential to significantly improve urban life in a variety of areas, including waste management, public safety, and transportation.
