The government’s Smart School Project includes these tablets, which are entirely supported by the GETFUND. The project’s goal is to digitize every industry in the nation.
Prior to this, President Akufo-Addo declared that 1.3 million tablets would be given to students in public senior high schools as well as those enrolled in technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
The tablets will be delivered in three stages, with the first batch going to 32 schools.
All of the tablets come with a keyboard and a battery bank, so they may be used as laptops or only as tablets.
Textbooks will eventually be replaced with tablets and gradually phased away. Teachers have received training from ICT Coordinators in schools on how to use tablets, and additional training will be given to schools that purchase the devices.
Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the minister of education, emphasized that the price of each tablet is $250, not GHS250.
