Tina Mensah, the Deputy Minister of Health and Weija Gbawe MP, expressed her dissatisfaction with Kennedy in no uncertain terms.

Following the polls, the MP expressed her disappointment with the voters, but she remained optimistic that Dr. Bawumia would win the New Patriotic Party’s banner.

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, who received 672 votes overall, was declared the winner following the announcement of the results. 434 votes were cast for Dr. Muhammadudu Bawumia, his primary opponent.

Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu was unable to contain his amazement at Kennedy Agyapong’s tremendous performance in his district. The Majority Leader had anticipated Kennedy Agyapong would receive little more than twenty percent of the votes in his constituency going into the primaries. To his dismay, however, the former nearly garnered forty percent of the total votes.

“That was a solid performance from him, no holds held. It seemed unlikely to me that he would receive more than 20%. In the worst situation, I was looking at 25% for him, but he performed well to upgrade from 25 to 40, he stated in a Joy News interview.

On November 4, 2023, Vice President Bawumia triumphed in the NPP flagbearer election.

Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, the Electoral Commission’s Director of Elections, declared Bawumia the winner at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Official results show that Bawumia received 118,210 votes, or 61.47% of the total votes cast, to win.
