Before taking their places to watch the ceremony at the State House’s forecourt, the delegation first filed past the body.

President Akufo-Addo had the state’s homage read on his behalf by Mustapha Hamid, the minister of youth and sports.

His praised kindness, love of people, devotion to Ghana’s motherland, and sense of teamwork were extraordinary and deserving of imitation. Atsu never lost himself and was never overcome by vanity, arrogance, or indiscipline, even at the pinnacle of his profession.

Christian Atsu “gracefully paid his dues to Mother Ghana on the occasion of mourning our son, brother, and colleague, and memories of his dedication and contributions to the National team, the Black Stars, will forever linger in both our minds.”
