GRA will begin taxing lottery winnings at a rate of 10% in January 2024.
In the meantime, Ghana’s betting and lottery sectors have expanded significantly over the past ten years, attracting numerous betting businesses to open locations there.
Ghanaians’ opinions on sports betting have been polarised in recent years, with some pointing out the detrimental impacts gambling has on young people, including addiction.
Some people also think that since betting is lawful and a respectable means of generating income, it cannot be characterised as a negative habit when no laws are breached.
