GRA will begin taxing lottery winnings at a rate of 10% in January 2024.

Recall that GRA formally imposed a 10% withholding tax on all wagers, games, and lottery winnings in August.

This came about as a result of the government’s decision to change the Tax Act and add withholding tax to gains from lotteries and sports betting.

The National Lottery Authority (NLA) and Private Lotto Operators (PLOs) were given a six-month extension, which is scheduled to expire in December, in spite of the 10% withholding tax being implemented, according to a statement from the Commissioner General of the GRA.
