Concerns Over “Dead” Chinese Illegal Miners Are Growing

Whether all of the bail requirements were satisfied to guarantee that the Chinese nationals appeared in court until the matter was resolved is one unanswered question.

This included alerting the relevant authorities so they could make sure the Chinese nationals were appropriately watched over and prevented from leaving the nation.

Other problems Ghanaians are in search of information regarding whether the Chinese nationals’ passports were confiscated while the case was still pending or if they were permitted to keep them.

Ghanaians, therefore, are curious as to whether the four Chinese nationals actually had sureties and, if so, who those individuals were.

The four Chinese nationals were identified as Lee Pin, 60; Weng Yong Cheng, 30; Wen FU Lin, 58; and Men Shi Yu, 30.

Two police officers, Edward Owusu, 25, Kwesi Frank, 42, Abudu Dramani, 41, and Joe Nabur, 27, were among the six Ghanaians. Detective Sergeant Yahaya Andrews and Lance Corporal Azantillow were also among them.

All six Ghanaians were present when the case was summoned at the court’s third meeting on March 15, 2024; however, the court noticed that there were only two Chinese present, as opposed to the customary four.
