A preacher was detained by police in Nigeria’s Plateau State for organising his kidnapping and requesting a ransom from his followers.
After churchgoers paid an N600,000 (GH14,000) ransom to get Albarka Bitrus Sukunya released, intelligence was acquired that led to the capture of Sukunya and his accomplices.
Alabo Alfred, the spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command, revealed this in a statement on January 11th.
“It unearthed the criminal deed of one pastor Albarka Bitrus Sukuya’m’ of Jenta Apata, Jos who on multiple times faked his kidnapping with his associates and received ransom from sympathetic members of his flock,” the Plateau State Police Command reported.
